The Care Vault is built and functional. Phase 1 completes when the loyalty engine and payment processing go live. Backend migration from Express to Bun + Elysia is underway in parallel. Phases 2 through 4 follow in sequence.

Mobile Framework
Flutter over React Native
Single Dart codebase ships to iOS, Android, Web, Linux, macOS, and Windows. On-device OCR and barcode pipelines run natively with ML Kit and mobile_scanner. No JavaScript bridge overhead.
Authentication
Better Auth over Firebase Auth
Server-owned auth means we control session tokens, data locality, and OAuth scopes without a Firebase vendor lock-in. Mounted on Bun + Elysia via .get + .post on /api/auth/*.
Backend Runtime
Bun 1.3.5 + Elysia over Node/Express
Bun delivers 3-4x faster cold start and native TypeScript execution. Elysia provides end-to-end type safety with OpenAPI generation and composable module boundaries. Migration underway in isolated Wave tracks.
Database
MongoDB Atlas over a relational DB
Pet profile, nutrition, and records data is deeply nested and varies per species. Flexible document schema lets the app evolve without costly migrations. Atlas provides geo-redundant managed hosting.
AI Infrastructure
LightBrain K8s over cloud-only APIs
Project-scoped Neo4j knowledge graph and local LiteLLM gateway (llama3.1, qwen2.5-coder, qwen3) give the team a cognitive memory layer that does not leak context to third-party providers.
